CONCERN YOUTH OF AGONA EAST

MAAME POKUA, ALLOW PROF. YANKAH TO PEACEFULLY DEVELOP OUR CONSTITUENCY FOR US.

Setting the records straight, we won’t allow the NDC MP to steal Prof. YANKAH’S projects like they stole our money in their last eight years rule of this country.

It been months since Prof Kwesi Yankah, the NPP’ Parliamentary Candidate initiated another landmark project of connecting 55 communities to the national grid. The first of it kind in the history of our rural constituency. The project is peacefully ongoing until the MPs truck and her NDC cohorts in a video and pictorial reports were captured ‘stealing’ the poles for a different location. This act has been condemned generally in no uncertain terms by the entire membership of the various communities. It took the timely intervention of the NPP constituency executives and party folks who were embarking on Electoral area visits to sensitize it’s members on the need to observe the COVID 19 protocols.

As if that was not enough, on the 11th of June 2020, last week Thursday, the MP in a rush after a release by some concern youth of Agona East for not seeing any sign of development concerning a promise she made to construct an Astro turf at Nantifa within a six month period, immediately moved to site to destroy and turn the only playing field of the community into an eventual swimming pool. This unfortunate incident led to an outburst and growing tension in the community with many youth agrieved at the way and manner the MP has treated them.

As if that was not enough, her inability to boast of a single project at Kotokoli zongo. Prof. Yankah on Sunday responded to the cry of the Zongo community and was to cut sod for the commencement of a 10-seater ultramodern toilet facility for Kotokoli Zongo, which was to be completed within a three months period. A major need that has eluded the community for some time now after the only KVIP serving the community broke down.
A day before the sod cutting, the MP through the assemblyman who is a known NDC member nicodemosly moved to the site to erect pillars for a five seater old model toilet facility. We were told that Pokua negotiated with a private investor to build the 5-seater KVIP, own and operate it for 25 solid years before handing it over to the community. This is really sad.

One may ask, which logical conclusion can be made out of a rejection of free 10 seater toilet facility as against a 5 seater facility that will be handed over to the community after 25 years. Does this really make sense?

Ladies and gentlemen, this is how Maame Pokua has shamefully reduced Agona East politics to under her eight years tenure with virtually nothing to show.

We, the concern youth of Agona East are by this release cautioning the woman once again to avoid poking her shameful nose into the numerous projects of Prof. Yankah that is going on in the constituency.
She should stop ‘stealing’ electricity poles and use her common Fund for rice and oil and divert it into relevant and important sectors.
We have seen her only party pickup broke down on the Domeabra-Nantifa road that they have left to the mercy of the weather over 3-weeks. If she has any resources, at least she can be charitable to her own party by taking the car to a mechanic for repairs.

We know she has failed us as an MP and there is nothing she can do to convince us to retain her seat. She has proven beyond reasonable doubt that she can’t offer anything better than rice and oil coupled with her inability to contribute to parliamentary debate on the floor of parliament. We have indeed regretted voting for her in 2016 and we can promise her we won’t repeat that mistake again. We will kick her out like a relationship that is taking us nowhere.

We are by this release appealing to Prof. Yankah to have patience as he has always exhibited and continue to embark on his numerous infrastructural development. We the youth have seen the employment opportunities and the development he has brought to the constituency and will never let him down come December, 2020.

We thank you for your attention.
