POKUA’S ONLY CAMPAIGN PICKUP IN AGONA EAST LEFT TO THE MERCY OF THE WEATHER

In 2016, the NDC managed to retain only four seats in the Central Region out of 23 seats.
One of the seats retained in the Region is the Agona East seat which has been occupied by Queenstar Pokua Sawyer since 2012.
One of the key advantages she had, was her intimate connection with the former President Mahama.
As Deputy Central Regional Minister, she was able to mobilize resources for her own campaign whilst all other constituencies in the Region were left to loose sadly on the ticket of the NDC.

Her public utterances depicted she was seemly a very resourceful person. On countless political platforms, claimed she used her “own personal funds for community projects”. The deception won the hearts of many women who were actually given fake assurances of credit facilities to improve their lives.
Just four years after the NDC were comfortably defeated in the 2016 elections, Pokua Sawyerr appears to be broke completely.

Many NDC members in Agona East harbor grave disappointment in the MP because she was finally afraid of a possible parliamentary primaries towards the 2020 election. She bulldozed her way through, despite an am impending court case challenging her legitimacy as Parliamentary Candidate, to file poster across the Constituency. This self-imposition, the NDC thinks, is a recipe for defeat. _The NDC delegates in Agona East did not have a cocoa season this time around because of Pokua_.

Whilst she has generally been abandoned by her own party faithfuls, she also “continues to push away any potential NDC member within the constituency who may aspire to lead the party in the future” said one of her aggrieved members at Akwakwaa.

It would be recalled that in April, 2020, she publicly removed posters of Prof Kwesi Yankah, the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate of Agona East. She was on record to have said that “I personally removed the posters and will continue to remove them over and over again”. Many party members were highly disappointed in her uncivilized act.

Her gross disrespect for authority and humanity, seems to be taking her to a well constructed grave.
It seems Queenstar is broke and can’t run a fun-fair campaign anymore.

Our checks on the Nantifa-Domeabra stretch of the Swedru-Bawjiase road, saw a broken down NDC party mahindra left to the mercy of the weather about three weeks ago to rot.
Kojo Oduro – an NDC branch executive at Nantifa opined “it is a big disgrace that we can’t even move the car from the main road. People see it everyday and they complain about it all the time. We have told the MP but it seems she does not have money to fix it”.
Clearly, times have changed. Once a self acclaimed millionaire, is now painfully exiting the political scene with bad records of debts and poverty.

Most NDC members in Agona East are leaving the party or staying out of the upcoming election due to the MP’s inability to connect well with the grassroots.
Others sense an eminent defeat ahead of time and have recoiled.
A careful look at the drop in her electoral performance, makes a strong case for a defeat ahead.
