PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO COMMISSIONS NAVAL TRAINING COMMAND IN VOLTA REGION

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has commissioned the newly constructed Naval Training Command at Nutekpor, in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.

According to President Akufo-Addo, the Command Centre, which has been the long-held vision of several Chiefs of Naval Staff, “is going to accommodate all the training schools of the Navy, under a unified command, to improve the development of human resources in the Navy and other stakeholders in the maritime industry.”

Commissioning the Project on Tuesday, 20th October 2020, the President explained that increasing economic activities in the maritime environment, especially in the oil and gas and fisheries sectors, and their accompanying security challenges, demand the presence of a well-trained maritime force for the purposes of offering enhanced protection.

With piracy and armed robbery in the Gulf of Guinea presenting significant threats to national and regional maritime activities, he noted that “we, therefore, need every naval officer and sailor to be equipped with creative solutions to deal with present and future maritime security challenges, and stay ahead of the criminal actors at sea”, adding that “this is the basis for Government’s support, through the Ministry of Defence, of the establishment of this Naval Training Command.”

The Command will serve as the nerve centre of the Navy’s training doctrine, with the seven major schools under the Command, i.e., the School of Maritime Operations, Supply Application School, Marine Engineering and Electrical Application School, Basic Leadership Training School, the Recruit Training School, Special Forces Training School and the Diving School, providing numerous touchpoints to instill the core values of the Navy.

“The schools would also impart the knowledge and skills required of naval personnel, so that they can attain the appropriate professional standards, and maintain operational readiness in accordance with the Navy’s operational procedures,” he added.

Additionally, President Akufo-Addo stressed that the schools, operating under the Command, will be equipped to leverage technology, and use new training methodologies to enhance learning and achieve greater efficiencies in line with Government’s agenda of technology and digitisation.

Phase One
The facilities that have been completed and ready for use, under Phase One of this Project, are the Command Headquarters, the School of Maritime Operations, the Recruit Training School, the instructors’ and students’ accommodation blocks, library, medical centre and mini Mosque.

All these, and other facilities, earmarked for construction, sit on a one hundred and fourteen (114) acre land, which has been fenced to ward off encroachers. In addition, the Ministry of Defence is in the process of securing two hundred and fifty (250) acre land on the outskirts of this Command for the construction of an outdoor shooting range to support training.

President Akufo-Addo noted that, upon the successful completion of the remainder of the schools, “the Training Command will become a maritime training centre of excellence, attracting trainees from other security services and maritime stakeholders from both within and outside Ghana, in line with the tenets of the Yaoundé Code of Conduct.”

The President continued, “We believe that retooling the Armed Forces, in general, and the Navy, in particular, is the surest way to support the principles of the Code of Conduct, which calls for resourcing the navies in the Gulf of Guinea States to enhance collaboration in joint operations and information sharing. We, in Government, would, therefore, give maximum support, and ensure that the construction of the remaining schools commence in earnest to make the Command fully operational.”

Expressing the appreciation of Government and the Ghanaian people to the Chiefs and people of Agave Traditional Area for the full support they have given this project, President Aku, adding that “I am told that the medical centre will serve as the first port of call for all residents of Nutekpor and surrounding communities”.

Meet Blackson, The Bilingual Rapper Who Is Making Waves In The Rap Circles

0

Rap music has been reigning worldwide since the 90s till now. In the past, when  we talked of Rap Music, America was the  country that came to mind, but the genre in time has spread its tentacles to other continents. It is rather rare to see rappers who rap in just more than one language, but rapper, Blackson, raps perfectly in English and Italian.

Musician, Blackson, born on 26th March, 1987 as Emmanuel Simpson was given birth to by two Ghanaian parents  in Aversa(Caserta)Italy. On record, he is an Italian and of Ghanaian decent. Other names Blackson responds to musically are  Son and  Simpson.

Blackson residing currently in Leeds, in the United Kingdom, attended an Art and Design High school called Liceo Artistico Statale Umberto Boccioni, in Italy. He is  currently pursuing a degree in Entertainment Management course at Leeds Beckett University, in UK.

Simpson started doing music when he was 16, back in VeronaItalyBlackson explained that he started with music because it was the only way for him to connect with his friends and to feel accepted in his group, because most of them were able to improvise rhymes and Freestyle and he was the odd one because he could not do it. Fast forward,  two years later, he was already on major stages, battling other Mc’s and winning rap battles here and there.

Some memorable contests he won was firstly, in 2002 at Valpolicella Sound Park. He was a first runner up in the freestyle contest, clashing with Dank MC, one of the greatest exponents of rap battles in Italy. Secondly, in 2013 he took part in “Italy’s Got Talent” and the third edition of “MTV Spit” conducted by “Marracash”.

In the year 2019, he released “Never Back Down” that got aired on BBC Bradford “1Xtra Takeover”. Then on September 2019 and on January 2020 he released “Black Russian” featuring Rome’s urban legend “Amir Issa” and his his most recently released is “DNA”.

It is Blackson high priority and dream to use his music to connect Italian rap and that of English, in proving the point that indeed music has no barriers.

0

Get to know the history  most powerful Prophet ever in Ghana, the late Odifo Kwame Nkansah.

Odifo Kwame Nkansah lived from 1862 – 1987. He left this realm on September 23,1987 at age 125 years. He was a prophet for 70 years.
Odifo Kwame Nkansah lived most of his live in Anyinam where the head quarters the African Faith Terbanacle Church known as “Nkansah asore” was and still is.
He cared for the poor and sick, He fed and clothed many.
His Best friend was Nana opoku ware. He did a lot of work and miracles in Ghana and beyond, turning water to petrol to fuel his cars,he could appear and disappear, astral travel among others, at his time he had buses for most of his branches and there were no offering or collection at his Church.
He died a Natural dead and told his people about his death and why they shouldn’t put him in fridge but after he died as a state prophet to Rawlings and his friend Nana Opoku ware together with one of his w)faase who was a law lecturer who later broke out of the church to form united faith took his body to korlebu mortuary and while at the mortuary patients confirmed their healing encounter at the hospital as many received their healing from him and described him. Because of this the hospital authority were refusing to hand the body over after they found out it was him patients were describing.
But eventually the family and the church too the case to court to get the body released for burial, they gave him a full escort and ambulance but for about 2 hours all the motors and cars were not functioning so they had to carry the body in one of his Benz buses to Anyinam.

On the funeral grounds Nana Opoku Oware delayed coming to the funeral and the family wanted to put him in the casket but on several tries the body could not be moved until His friend Nana Opoku Oware came to pay his last respect.

As they put the body into the casket on a bench and as soon as the casket was lifted there was a heavy hightning which divided the group into 2. Where they still dig the soil(nfuntuma) for many forms of healing. The pictures of him, ex president Rawlings, Nana Opoku Oware among other big people at his time are still there in Anyinam.

Odifo Kwame Nkansah was a great prophet and and ancestor to many despite his flaws others also encountered, like some sort of punishments he gives to his pastors, using his hands or eyes to take some of them their powers from them.
He was the first prophet who kept African cultures and believes in the adventure of the Bible. Till today traditional drums among other this that identifies and unify the African spirituality are found in his Churches.
Even though the old folks knows his Church well his still have over 500 branches
