Central Region Aims  to be Ghana’s Rice Hub- Hon. Marigold Assan.

As part of the Rice Value Chain Improvement Project with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), yesterday, we took delivery of 2,500 kg (2.5MT) of high-quality rice seeds.

It is in line with efforts aimed at shoring up rice production and making the Central Region a rice production hub in the country.

Currently, five districts, Gomoa East, Assin Fosu, Assin North, Assin South, and Twifo Atti-Morkwa, are beneficiaries of the project.

The project seeks to improve the quality of life of rural farmers through increased rice production and income of farmers.

Also, it is aimed at leveraging the capacities
deployed by the KOICA rice value chain
interventions with machinery and equipment, knowledge, and skills training programmes to increase productivity.

In my address, I expressed gratitude to KOICA for this great intervention which is geared towards improving the fortunes of the region and changing the lives of rice farmers in the region.

Further, I urged KOICA to extend its operations to other districts in the region with great potential for rice production.
