The Great North Run is the largest half marathon in the world, taking place annually in North East England each September. Participants run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields. The run was devised by former Olympic 10,000 m bronze medallist and BBC Sport commentator Brendan Foster.

The manager Charles Abeiku-Forson had and interview with Africapush.com and below is his statement;
As William amponsah is flying to London, Newcastle for the great north run today, trust me he would be flying with private jet soon as he aspire to be the world champion.
All what we are expecting from him is to make another great step ahead in getting closer to his world champion dream with a personal Best Record. He is the first Ghanaian to run this powerful race and the people are behind him as Amponsah is also motivated to run along with his mentor Kinenisa Bekele who is a record holder.
Great thanks to Mr Robin Todd, Captain Afriyie Atta of pulse fitness Ghana, Prof. Kwesi Yankah, Mr Bawah of GAA, University of Education Winneba, Royston runners Club UK, Team Daakye and everyone who has being praying to support William Amponsah.
