The Sasakwaa AEDA Basic School on Friday, 25th March, 2022 marked in a grand style, Ghana Month with various interesting activities.

The month of March is declared as “Ghana Month”, which is geared towards promoting Ghanaian local stuff, including local foods/ drinks, traditional apparels, traditional music, etc. Its a period where the whole country advertises most of their local setups and beautiful cultures.

The headteacher, staff, parents and the entire pupils of Sasakwaa Basic School marked the Ghana Month day with activities like cooking competitions (local foods – banku, konkonte and fufu), traditional games like ampe, ludo and tag of peace. There was also an educational drama which preached about keeping Ghana clean and living in Peace and Unity.

The headteacher, Mr. Isaac Kwesi Ahari, in his brief remark, urged all gathered to patronize made in Ghana goods as a means of projecting local stuff. He added that, parents should develop the habit of eating local foods, wearing local apparels, etc, in their kids, so they can grow with it. Mr. Ahari also seized the opportunity to appeal to government agencies, NGOs and philanthropist to come to the aid of the school in acquiring an ICT laboratory, Teaching and Learning Materials, school uniforms and other needs of the school.

“In the best of my knowledge, the school feeding program, such a great government intervention, is meant for deprived villages like Sasakwaa. Sadly, we’re yet to be enrolled on the program. I therefore appeal to the authorities to kindly consider enrolling our school on the program” – Mr. Isaac K. Ahari added.

The event was climaxed with cooking and games competitions between parents, students and teachers. Speaking on behalf of the parents present, an appreciation was extended to the headteacher and the staff for such a great initiative. They urged them to make it an Annual event.
