Ima was born Abigail Ayizam on 1st March 2001 in Obuasi to Christabel Ayiyam (mother) and Stephen Ayaagyigi (father). She schooled at Dr Saunders in Kintampo.
Abbi started her career as a gospel singer and gradually switched to secular music. Ima does Afrobeat, Afro-pop and some Afro fusion of Dancehall.
