Known by his stage moniker Pope Skinny, Ghanaian rapper Edwin Kwame Ohene Darko has defended his former colleague, Reggae/Dancehall legend Shatta Wale, claiming that the musician is frequently misinterpreted.

In an open conversation with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo show, the “Hot Cake” singer revealed that Shatta Wale is frequently portrayed as a villain due to his outspoken personality. He added that Shatta Wale only responds when provoked.

“I learned confidence from Shatta Wale,” Pope Skinny revealed, adding that the Dancehall star also taught him how to manage his finances effectively.

“Shatta Wale saves a lot of money,” he noted.

Pope Skinny addressed reports that the “Melissa” singer had bought him a Mercedes Benz, stating that although Shatta Wale had announced a new Benz in the family, he had never claimed to have bought it for him.

Pope Skinny acknowledged, “I miss him every day,” as she thought back on their history. “He’s our guy,” she said, lamenting the decline of their connection. He recognized the beneficial influence Shatta Wale had on his life, particularly in terms of self-confidence and financial discipline, notwithstanding their disagreements.
