On Tuesday 17th March, 2020, two major events took place both at Swedru Senior High School and on the Swedru-Bawjiase road.
The events were the sod-cutting ceremonies to begin;
1. Construction of a 700metre asphalt overlay at SWESCO. There was a sod-cutting to start the asphalt overlay expected to be completed on Thursday.
2. Reconstruction of the abandoned Swedru-Bawjiase road.
This stretch of road which passes through major towns in Agona East like Mankrong Nkwanta, Kwanyako, Nantifa and Asafo, has seen contractors reported to site. This project was started in 2016 by the NDC and abandoned in the same year prior to the December 07, 2016 election.
The road project by the Government, according to Prof Kwesi Yankah “ will go a long way to promote the socioeconomic lives of the people Agona East.
The District Chief Executive of Agona East, Hon Dennis Armah-Frimpong together with party executives from the respective electoral areas graced the occasion.
In media interviews with the press, Prof Kwesi Yankah reaffirmed his commitment to make Agona East the envy of the Central Region by ensuring a massive infrastructural development in the constituency.
The Swedru-Bawjiase road, if completed, will promote trade and commercial activities within the constituency, enhance access to educational facilities, healthcare delivery among others.
Some residents in the area expressed proud appreciation to Prof Yankah for his desire to drive development in the constituency.
This is few of the numerous infrastructural projects including constructions of 25 basic schools, extension of electricity to 55 communities, scholarships and educational support initiatives, women empowerment drives, support for persons with disabilities among others.
He is admired by the youth of the area by his calculated expression of a positive political will to meet the expectations of the youth of Agona East.
